How to Send and Receive Bitcoin in the Self-Custody WoS Wallet

Sending Bitcoin

Your self-custody wallet supports:

  • Lightning payments (via invoices or Lightning addresses / LNURLs)

  • On-chain Bitcoin transactions

You don’t need to choose the type of payment manually - the wallet automatically detects it for you.

How to Send:

  1. Tap “Send” in the wallet.

  2. Scan the QR code or paste the address or invoice.

    • Lightning invoices, Lightning addresses and LNURLs are supported.

    • On-chain Bitcoin addresses are also supported.

  3. The wallet will automatically detect the type of payment.

  4. Confirm/enter the amount (if it’s not pre-filled) and review the details.

  5. Tap “Send” to complete the payment.

Fees:

  • Lightning Payments: The wallet calculates and includes any required routing fees automatically (these are typically very low).

  • On-Chain Payments: The wallet automatically calculates the required mining fee based on current network conditions and includes a small service fee. These are combined and displayed as a single “network fee” before you confirm the transaction.

Receiving Bitcoin

You can receive Bitcoin via Lightning or on-chain from the Receive page.

Bitcoin via Lightning:

  • Tap “Receive” – by default, you’ll see your Lightning Address / LNURL QR code displayed.

  • Share this QR code or your Lightning Address for instant Lightning payments.

  • To request a specific amount:

    1. Tap the Amount/Note button.

    2. Enter the amount (and an optional note).

    3. The wallet generates a Lightning invoice QR code you can share.

On-Chain (BTC):

  • On the Receive screen, tap the BTC logo button at the bottom.

  • This will show your on-chain Bitcoin address and QR code.

  • Share this address or QR code for on-chain transactions.

Fees:

  • On-Chain Receiving Fees: When you receive Bitcoin on-chain, a network fee applies along with a small service fee. These fees are automatically deducted from the amount received. The current fees are always displayed on the BTC (on-chain) receive page, so you can review them before sharing your address.
  • Lightning Network: We do not charge any fees for receiving payments via the Lightning Network.

✅ Things to Remember:

  • Lightning payments in WoS default to your Lightning Address/LNURL but can also be made via specific invoices.

  • Switching between Lightning (⚡) and On-Chain (₿) is as simple as tapping the buttons at the bottom of the Receive screen.

  • Fees (routing for Lightning, mining for on-chain) are calculated and shown before sending.
